Welcome

We welcome you to the Parish Religious Education Program and look forward to cooperating with you, the parents and guardians in helping your children appreciate the great gift of the Catholic faith, which they began to live at Baptism.

We thank you for allowing us to assist you in the faith development of your children and strongly encourage you to take an active role in our program. As parents, you are invited to volunteer to be a teacher of religion, or and aide in the classroom. Please contact Mrs. Bea Raiker if you would like to offer your time and talent to this important ministry. May God continue to bless each one of us as we come to know more about Christ and His Church.

Sacramental Preparation

Regular attendance and active intelligent participation in class beginning in the first grade and continuing through the years are a prerequisite.

Parent meetings are held during the children's preparation time.

First Penance

Immediate preparation for the Sacrament of First Penance takes place in the first year of a child's instruction. This is usually first grade. Special arrangements are made for children who are in the second grade or above. Kindergarten is not required and therefore is not part of the Sacrament preparation.

Eucharist

Preparation for Eucharist is held in the second year of Religious Education. First Communion will be made May 3rd-4th, 2008 at all the weekend Masses.

Confirmation

Confirmation Retreat Makeup will be held Saturday, September 1 starting at the 8:00AM Mass. The preparation for Confirmation takes place over two years. Weekly classes are held in the seventh year on Sunday mornings. In the eighth year, Confirmandi will prepare by becoming involved in ministry, attending retreats and participating in Mass. The eighth year is reserved for candidates from both OLMC Regional School and the Religious Education Program.

Special programs of preparation can be arranged for older children or adults who desire to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, Eucharist, or Confirmation.
